Irony: a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one would expect.
I am sorry for the losses the people of Louisiana are experiencing with the flooding of late.
On the other hand, this state has many members of Congress who deny that global warming is caused by humans burning fossil fuels. It is also a part of the country that has hatred for both Obama, the man, and the federal government in general. They rail against taxes, yet want Obama to come visit to see the damage, and they want FEEMA to help out immediately. Hmmm, last I checked FEEMA is a tax-supported federal agency.
I am a science-loving supporter of a big, effective centralized federal government. We pay for the services we need in this modern, complex society with taxes.
It is hugely ironic that the very people who strenuously deny human-caused climate change and hate big “gubment” the most, are being hit with the effects of that climate change while screaming for federal support.
You know, you just can’t have it both ways.
