A Day at the Zoppe Circus
Meet Giovanni Zoppe.
I had the pleasure of interviewing the clown who runs this amazing show.
The Show
Watch Giovani’s improv skills. Audience involvement. A delight to all. He says, “The trick is picking the right person.” Watch how he pulls a woman from the audience for the “toss the hat” bit. Genius. Watch how he walks and gestures. A superb mime. Very reminiscent of Charlie Chaplin’s little tramp.
The Interview (done between shows at his trailer)
Meet his four-year-old son. Advice to people with a dream: “Just do it.” He has done all this with a third-grade education. His 15-year-old son is planning to walk a tightrope between the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. Seriously – with some help from Nik Wallenda.
Asked how he manages the finance and business part of the circus, Giovani said, “I’m not a businessman. I’m a clown.”

great interview, rick….the circus guy has a great understanding of life, happiness….bravo!
This one is right up there with the iron workers. So precious. Getting our tickets (2nd time, and wouldn’t miss it anytime they are in town) now.
I love this Zoppe family circus piece as well as the Cloverdale ham radio piece. So moving and inspiring. Thank you.
Oh my this was a really fun one! That little four-year-old is already so talented! Yikes. And his father’s answer was perfect: What ever he wants to do! — The whole circus looks fun. All that talent. Thanks for this one.
