The Spirituality of Pruning

We have a Japanese maple in our front yard that was desperately in need of trimming. I was referred to Arnie Cornez. He showed up with simple, clean and polished tools. He sharpened his pruning shears, then spayed it with disinfectant. Next he began talking to the tree.

I realized I had a Zen monk here to trim our tree. So I asked if I could videotape  him at work and interview him. I learned about the spirituality of aesthetic pruning. Amazing. Check out the video.

This brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me so much of Don. I’m sure you remember how much he loved his bonsais. And the Japanese maple was our favorite. He would have loved this video as much as I did!

So I want to see the before and after of the tree!!! Do you have any more footage of him pruning….I am intrigued by what branches he chooses? Who would have thought: Aesthetic Pruning!!!
