Portrait of an Entrepreneur

Last October I was in Morgan Hill, California, about an hour early for a Rotary speech. I looked for a coffee shop to plop down, relax and check email. I turned the corner a ran into the GVA Cafe, the most unique coffee shop I’ve ever seen.

In addition to coffee, they have beer and wine. On top of that, the joint is dripping with race car memorabilia. The walls are covered with tools, valve covers, carburetors, brake shoes, intake manifolds, you name it.  I’m thinking, “This is awesome.” I asked the person behind the counter if I could meet the guy who owns it. She said, “Yes, SHE will be back in a few minutes.”

Renee Carrillo and I talked for about 30 minutes. Her story blew me away. This month, I went back to GVA Cafe and interviewed her. I think you’ll be as amazed as I was. Take a look…
