Healthcare Madness or, Blow Up the Insurance Companies

The Wall Street Journal is going nuts attacking the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare). They report insurers are losing money and are getting out of the business. Premiums are going up and coverage is going down. It is a total mess according to the WSJ. Now Bill Clinton calls it “the craziest thing in the world.”

My oh my, these poor insurance companies are not making enough money on our illnesses. Apparently they love kicking elderly widows out of their homes and forcing them into abject poverty in their declining years due to medical expenses. Remember, folks, this is CAPITALISM, and our precious shareholders have to make a profit. Remember, too, our executive teams must be paid obscene salaries for doing nothing but denying you the service you’ve paid for.

Wingnut Sarah Palin was right about one thing: THERE ARE DEATH PANELS, but not in the government as she contends. No, death panels are what the insurance companies are all about!

All of this is so wrong!

We must socialize health care now! We already have vital services socialized: free public education; fire and police protection, infrastructure, the military, the list goes on and on. We do not deny poor people fire protection because they did not or could not pay their “fire protection tax.” No, we agree to “socialize” this service. We all pay taxes so that everyone is protected, even those too poor to pay taxes.

Healthcare is way too important to be a “for profit” industry. We don’t expect public schools, police departments, or fire departments to “make a profit.” Let’s take healthcare out of the for-profit, market-driven capitalistic model.

Also, let’s get employers out of the health care business. Why in the world should my employer have to deal with this? I should have healthcare coverage whether I’m working or not. I should not be forced to stay at a job I hate because of healthcare insurance.

The VA and Medicare do socialized medicine very well. The liberal politicians tentatively say we should have “the public option.” Nonsense. What we must do is get rid of the healthcare insurance industry and socialize the whole thing once and for all. Let’s join the other forward-looking countries like Canada, and cover everyone from cradle to grave. No more profit or loss in healthcare. All paid for through taxes.

We do not need, as the republicans want, a better insurance system. (Which is all dog whistle for: “Make the filthy rich at the top even richer.”)   No, we need, as the timid left wing people say, “Medicare for all.” What they mean, but are afraid to say, is, S-O-C-I-A-L-I-Z-E-D medicine.

In other countries, the super wealthy can still get their private care, but let’s at least cover all Americans. Aren’t we a “Christian nation?” What would Jesus do? Aren’t I “My brother’s keeper?”

So true. I’ve been in foreign countries, unfortunately needed medical care, and Socialized Medicine works – very efficiently.
