This is what I looked like after Kaiser beat me up last week. Concerned about blurriness in my left eye, I checked in to Ophthalmology. Turns out I have Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion. Untreated it can lead to blindness in the effected eye. Treatment involved a shot in my left eyeball. What fun. I will go back in the month for a followup. Prognosis is good, though may involved periodic shots in the eye on a regular basis. For more information, check it out on Google. Oh boy, ain’t the 80s fun?
Hooray For Luther Burbank
This is a Meyer Lemon Tree in our front yard. Six months ago, I picked a lemon, sliced it in half and put about a dozen seeds between moist paper towels to let them germinate. Only one germinated. I put it in dirt and BINGO!
I talk to it every day, keep it well watered, and give it plenty of light. Look at it now!
Years ago, psychologists found that pets are hugely helpful for elderly living alone. Further research showed that house plants have the same effect. Maybe this little lemon tree will keep me healthy into my 90s. I’ll keep you posted.

To my amazement, this Cabbage Palm seemed to just explode with these white flowers when the rain stopped.

Rick, are you sure it’s not your ears with the problem with all that leaf blowing and power washing going on Harrison? Thanks for taking the hit for all the neighborhood leaf blowers I had nasty thoughts. Leviticus 24:19-21, reads, “And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him; breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.
Rick, I have been procrastinating a call to you. It will tell the story of my dynamite cousin who
is pushing 95. Her high energy life has continued with delight due to eye shots for about 10
years…. But I learned yesterday that I’ve been rapidly losing my hearing. I’m just wondering
where I could get some ear shots.
