Mary’s Birthday Adventure
Mary wanted to have “an adventure” to celebrate her birthday in July. Her first choice was the DeYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park where they were featuring The Obama Portraits Tour. The paintings are large and magnificent, done by two different artists.
I was moved watching parents photograph their kids in front of the images of these two iconic American leaders who have broken so many barriers.
You could almost hear the words floating in the air, “Someday, honey….”
The Skystar Observation Wheel
After the museum, we ventured over to the HUGE Ferris Wheel just north of the museum. Three times around was enough. There was a slight breeze that day. At the top things got a bit wobbly. Got some good photos though.
What a great choice of adventures Mary made! The paintings are amazing and gratefully provide inspiration for our young ones. I love your photo of the ferris wheel.
I did the same last week! So great to think of those Obamas in the National PortraIt Gallery. And the ferris wheel was wonderful.
A great share, Rick. The people – picture connection says so much, and you caught it.
Your photos are fantastic, especially those taken of and from the ferris wheel !
I saw these portraits when was in “The City” in July but I couldn’t do the Ferris Wheel or even the top floor of the tower in the DeYoung. I hope you saw the video about the painters on another floor.
Birthday Adventures make great celebrations.
Beautiful birthday idea
Rick… Love your stories, photos and insights… Thanks again for sharing.
Great birthday choice, Mary. Wonderful pictures, Rick, as always. It’s the humanity, always.
